Securing £140 Million on the Move: A Gold Standard in High-Value Cargo Protection

August 1, 2025

Client type: Global logistics and supply chain management company
Contract completion date: Completed (6-week operation)
Service lines: High-value logistics escort, real-time monitoring, route planning, and stakeholder coordination

Background

Our client is a global leader in logistics and supply chain management, responsible for the secure transportation of high-value assets on behalf of some of the world’s most recognisable brands.

They required a high-level security solution for the movement of cargo valued at approximately £140 million per consignment, transported via road between sites in Cheshire and Northamptonshire.

Given the extraordinary value and visibility of the shipments, the operation faced a wide range of threats, including organised criminal activity, hijack attempts, insider risks, and exposure due to unforeseen traffic delays. Kings Guarding Solutions (KGS) was selected to deliver a tailored escort and monitoring service to ensure the cargo remained protected under all circumstances throughout a tightly controlled 6-week period.

Description of Works

KGS delivered a comprehensive mobile escort and control room monitoring solution that safeguarded every movement from start to finish. Key activities included:

  • Pre-journey route reconnaissance, safe haven identification, and creation of contingency routing
  • Deployment of 15 vetted and highly trained security personnel
  • Integration of real-time GPS tracking, Dash Cams, and Body Worn Video technology
  • Live streaming of journeys to the KGS control room for 24/7 situational awareness
  • Continuous coordination with haulage providers and local law enforcement

Project Delivery

Across 70 high-risk journeys and 500+ operational hours, there were zero incidents of theft, hijack, or disruption—demonstrating the effectiveness of the operational planning and real-time response infrastructure.

Security operatives were deployed in teams, fully briefed before each journey and supported by the control room which monitored live video and location feeds. Escalation protocols were clearly defined and could be activated instantly in the event of any emerging threat.

Scenario-based training ensured that every stakeholder—from escort staff to police contacts—understood their role in a real-world response, enabling fluid coordination throughout the project.

Challenges

People:
Operating over an extended period required a highly disciplined and reliable team. KGS deployed 15 security officers across the operation, managing shift rotations, briefings, and validation processes to maintain peak performance and vigilance.

Technology:
The project relied on uninterrupted real-time monitoring and communication. Dash Cams and Body Cams were tested before each journey, and contingency communication plans were put in place to guard against technical failure.

Processes:
Developing a scalable and responsive process was critical. KGS implemented detailed operational protocols, with scenario planning, escalation routes, and continuous coordination with third-party hauliers and police units to ensure adaptability and resilience.

Technical Overview

The operation was underpinned by a secure and proactive technical framework, including:

  • Live GPS tracking and journey logging
  • Multi-channel live video streaming to a central control room
  • Body-worn and vehicle-mounted video technology
  • Emergency vehicle lockdown capability
  • Resilient communication networks for secure stakeholder interaction

These tools enabled KGS to provide complete situational oversight and a swift response mechanism to any emerging threats.

Future Opportunities

Following the successful delivery of this high-profile operation and positive client feedback, KGS has been approached to support further secure logistics projects involving sensitive or high-value assets. Potential areas for expansion include:

  • Strategic advisory support for future high-risk movements
  • Enhanced operational planning services
  • Expansion of escort services to other regions and routes

This project set a new standard for high-value cargo protection, combining human expertise, technological precision, and operational excellence to mitigate risk at every stage of the journey.

What our Customers say

We wanted a smart-looking, contactless approach to access control here at Little Dot. We love the Openpath solution proposed by KST; it’s sleek, simple to use and has excellent reporting features. What’s more, KST’s inhouse commissioning team remotely configured the software to meet our requirements - including who goes where and when, through which doors, the reporting we need and integration to our fire alarm system. Thanks to this we have saved the cost of two days labour on install!

KST has once again exceeded all expectations with their outstanding service. Safety is our number one priority for both our Post Masters and customers, therefore we are always on the lookout for new technologies and new ideas. Morphean platforms, along with the installation and maintenance provided by KST, has been the perfect decision for us due to our existing knowledge of their excellent services and competitive prices.

The mobilisation was smooth with little involvement required from ourselves. Communication, in particular, has been extremely strong with regular meetings. Monthly management information has been circulated and Clipper are using the real time management information that KST have provided with their DYMENSiON software. We also have working action plans on each site focusing on improvements and change management. All in all I would be happy to recommend KST to any company looking at contract award; our experience has been very positive and I am happy to endorse them.

The whole process of mobilisation and onboarding to KST was conducted in an exceptional manner, from start to finish. The preparation for the move between City Plumbing Supplies and KST was comprehensive. Collaboration was very good. The days of transfer were event free and smooth - with no major issues. The branches’ onboarding onto the KST system during the 12 weeks following the mobilisation was completed fully with excellent communication sessions conducted on a weekly basis. We are now looking forward to a long and effective partnership with KST.

We’ve been delighted with the partnership between ISS and KST and the approach to transferring the access control contract. The teams have gelled quickly to understand our estate and we’ve seen significant service improvements.

Everything from the initial engagement with Quidvis to meeting the Fire Risk assessor on site, to receiving all the reports back in the SLA timeframe was second to none. The communication throughout the whole process has been so easy and the working relationship does not stop there. We now have one central system where we can view reports, add relevant building certificates and policies. Colleagues can access this incredibly user-friendly system and navigate with ease. I have been informed by several colleagues how easy the portal is to use. Even those less tech savvy have been more than impressed.
