Tech Frontlines with Lee Kerry (working title)

(This article is an AI generated example) Welcome to the first instalment of Tech Frontlines, a regular feature in our newsletter where I’ll be sharing insights into the latest security technologies being adopted and developed by Kings Secure Technologies. As Head of Technical Services, I’m privileged to work closely with our engineering teams and partners to evaluate, implement, and innovate around the solutions that are shaping the future of security. In each edition, I’ll lift the lid on a particular piece of technology we’re using in the field, why it matters, and how it delivers value for our clients.

This month, we’re focusing on one of the most transformative advancements in our industry: AI-powered video analytics.

Smarter Surveillance, Real-Time Response

Traditional CCTV systems have long played a critical role in deterring and documenting security incidents. However, as camera networks grow larger and data volumes increase, the challenge of monitoring and interpreting that data in real time has grown exponentially. That’s where artificial intelligence is changing the game.

AI-powered video analytics enables our systems to not just record what’s happening—but to understand it. Through intelligent algorithms and machine learning, these systems can detect unusual behaviours, identify threats, and alert operators in real time.

At Kings, we’ve integrated this technology into several client solutions across sectors including critical infrastructure, retail, and logistics. One recent example is a large-scale distribution centre where AI analytics now monitor perimeter activity, vehicle movements, and access points. The system has been trained to distinguish between routine deliveries and anomalous behaviour—such as individuals loitering near restricted zones or vehicles entering through unauthorised gates.

The impact has been significant: quicker response times, reduced false alarms, and a lighter cognitive load on control room staff. Most importantly, it has helped the client transition from reactive to proactive security management.

Customisable to Client Needs

One of the key strengths of this technology is its flexibility. Our engineering and tech teams work closely with each client to define what “suspicious” or “abnormal” behaviour looks like in their specific environment. Whether it’s detecting someone entering a fire exit in a retail store, flagging crowding in public spaces, or identifying unattended objects in a transport hub, the parameters are tailored to the risks that matter most.

These systems also support features such as facial recognition, license plate recognition (ANPR), loitering detection, and people counting—all of which feed into a more dynamic and informative security dashboard.

Integration with DYMENSION™

What truly sets our deployments apart is the seamless integration with DYMENSION™, our intelligent cloud-based security management platform. AI-generated alerts from video analytics can be logged, escalated, and actioned directly through DYMENSION™, creating a unified view of a client’s entire security operation.

Operators can review flagged incidents, view live or recorded footage, assign response teams, and even generate reports—all from a single interface. This level of integration not only boosts operational efficiency but also strengthens compliance and audit trails.

Ethical and Responsible Use

While AI opens up exciting possibilities, we’re also committed to deploying it responsibly. We adhere to strict ethical standards and ensure that all implementations comply with UK GDPR and industry best practices. Our systems are designed to enhance human decision-making, not replace it—and every client is supported with the training and transparency they need to feel confident in its use.

Looking Ahead

The future of security lies in intelligent automation, and video analytics is just one piece of the puzzle. At Kings, we’re also exploring how these systems can link with access control, incident response protocols, and even building management systems to create truly smart environments.

We see technology not just as a tool, but as a strategic asset that empowers our clients to operate safer, smarter, and more sustainably.

That’s it for this edition of SecTech Spotlight. If you’d like to know more about how we’re using AI analytics or want to explore how it could benefit your organisation, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our team. We’re always happy to provide demos, consultations, or just a conversation about what’s next.

Until next time,
Lee Kerry
Head of Technical Services

Our Commitment to ESG

At Kings Secure Technologies, we have always believed that sustainable practices are essential—not only for our internal operations but also for the value they bring to our clients and communities. That’s why, following the updated UK waste regulations that came into effect on 31st March 2025, we implemented new waste segregation measures across our sites and offices.

These changes played a vital role in reducing our environmental impact, improving compliance, and advancing our ongoing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy.

What This Meant for Our Clients

Our clients trust us to act with integrity, responsibility, and forward thinking. By introducing this initiative, we strengthened our position as a security partner that supports sustainable operations—helping our clients align with suppliers who value environmental stewardship.

The initiative supported:

  • Environmental Performance – By separating general waste, recyclables, and food waste, we significantly increased recycling rates and reduced the volume of waste going to landfill.

  • Regulatory Compliance – We ensured full adherence to new waste regulations, safeguarding operational standards at every client site.

  • ESG Leadership – This change served as a practical demonstration of our ESG commitments in action—highlighting measurable improvements in our environmental practices.

What We Introduced

To meet the new requirements and support sustainable working environments, we introduced a three-bin waste segregation system across our operations:

1. General Waste Bins
Used for non-recyclable materials.

2. Dry Mixed Recycling Bins
Used for paper, plastic, cans, and other recyclable items.

3. Food Waste Bins
Placed in canteens, kitchens, and break areas to collect compostable waste.

We also worked closely with our waste management provider to ensure that each waste stream was collected and processed separately, helping to maximise recycling efficiency and reduce contamination.

How We Engaged Our Team

We rolled out this initiative across our offices, regional branches, and engineering teams. Site-based staff were guided to adopt the same practices where possible. Clear signage, internal communications, and team briefings ensured everyone understood what went where—and why it mattered.

Engineers returning waste to Head Office or regional sites were instructed to sort materials correctly, with particular emphasis on preventing recyclables from ending up in general waste skips.

Impact on Our ESG Goals

This initiative represented a key milestone in our journey toward a more sustainable future. It directly supported our ESG targets by:

  • Lowering our operational carbon footprint

  • Reducing waste volumes and improving recycling metrics

  • Promoting a culture of environmental responsibility within the business

By embedding these practices into our daily operations, we demonstrated that even small changes can lead to measurable improvements when applied consistently across the organisation.

Thank You for Your Support

We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, and we’re grateful to our clients and staff for embracing these changes. Every step we take in support of our ESG goals reflects our belief that effective security services and sustainable operations go hand in hand.

If you’d like to explore how our ESG approach aligns with your own sustainability objectives, we’d be pleased to share more about our ongoing initiatives.

Together, we’re building a safer and greener future.

The whole process of mobilisation and onboarding to KST was conducted in an exceptional manner, from start to finish. The preparation for the move between City Plumbing Supplies and KST was comprehensive. Collaboration was very good. The days of transfer were event free and smooth - with no major issues. The branches’ onboarding onto the KST system during the 12 weeks following the mobilisation was completed fully with excellent communication sessions conducted on a weekly basis. We are now looking forward to a long and effective partnership with KST.

Steve Kemp
Security, Audit & Loss Prevention Manager - City Plumbing Supplies

We’ve been delighted with the partnership between ISS and KST and the approach to transferring the access control contract. The teams have gelled quickly to understand our estate and we’ve seen significant service improvements.

Andy Southern
Head of Security - Santander Bank

Everything from the initial engagement with Quidvis to meeting the Fire Risk assessor on site, to receiving all the reports back in the SLA timeframe was second to none. The communication throughout the whole process has been so easy and the working relationship does not stop there. We now have one central system where we can view reports, add relevant building certificates and policies. Colleagues can access this incredibly user-friendly system and navigate with ease. I have been informed by several colleagues how easy the portal is to use. Even those less tech savvy have been more than impressed.
