The 19th November is set to be an eventful date for two of our employees, as both are tackling personal challenges to raise money for worthy causes:
Lamont Marshall, who works in our Technical Support department is competing in a charity White Collar Boxing match to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Taking his challenge very seriously, Lamont has put himself on a strict diet and has been training for the past couple of months – even getting up at 4am to go for runs, as well as training a few times a week.
Lamont has seen the effect cancer has had on some of his close friends who have lost family members to the disease and in his words, “wants to raise as much as possible to ensure people can benefit from the research the charity provides.”
Emma Harris, who is Kings’ Project Manager is raising funds for a close friend (Keri-Lee Dewsbury) who has recently found out has incurable cancer. As part of her fundraising efforts, Emma will be shaving off her hair to support her friend during her chemotherapy and to help raise money to allow Keri, her fiancé and her daughter to achieve all the things on her bucket list. Emma said: “My best friend of over 20 years has been told at 31 years old, that she has incurable cancer. Keri is going through chemo right now to help give her that extra bit of time with her fiancé Rich and her 17 month old daughter Myla. But as with most chemo treatments, Keri is likely to lose her hair and I could not imagine letting my best friend go through that on her own, so I will be shaving my hair off in support!”
We wish both Lamont and Emma well on their fundraising journey and congratulate them immensely for what they are doing for such worthy causes.
