How Kings is preparing for GDPR

Taking effect from May 2018, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will set a new standard for how companies use and protect EU citizens’ data.

Here at Kings Secure Technologies, we’re working hard to prepare for GDPR, to ensure that we fulfil its obligations and maintain our transparency about how we use data.

What is GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new comprehensive data protection law that comes into effect on May 25, 2018. It will replace existing Data Protection law to strengthen the protection of ‘personal data’ and the rights of the individual. It will be a single set of rules which govern the processing and monitoring of EU data.

What is Kings doing to get ready for GDPR?

Our teams have been working hard to define our GDPR roadmap; an overhaul of processes to make sure we’re meeting our legal obligations, and doing the best thing for our customers while still enabling us to be at the forefront of the fire & security industry, including;

  • We’re updating our Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), Subject Access Request Process, sharing our privacy commitments and setting out the terms for Kings and our customers to meet GDPR requirements
  • We have a dedicated Data Protection Officer to oversee and advise on our data management who can be contacted on [email protected]
  • We’re coordinating with our Suppliers; finding out about their GDPR plans and arranging similar GDPR-ready data processing agreements with them
  • We continue to maintain accreditation to ISO 27001 Information Security – Security is of upmost importance to us. We have regular external audits and have built a robust security framework over the years, ensuring only the right people have access to the right level of customer data
