KST Responds to Terrorist Attack Proposed Legislation

Following the recent news that the government is planning to introduce a new law forcing all businesses to assess their risk of a terrorist attack and take measures to cope with the threat, Kings Secure Technologies (KST) is preparing by following these important steps:

REVIEWING OUR BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLAN

Our existing, robust Business Continuity plan has been designed to ensure that Kings Secure Technologies Ltd (KST) is best able to cope with the effects of an emergency or serious critical event and continue business whilst protecting its staff.  The plan is regularly reviewed and tested to ensure it meets the criteria specified in the Government’s Prevent Strategy.

KST is currently the dedicated hub for the Cross-Sector Safety and Security Communications (CSSC) in the North East and Yorkshire.  As such, KST is able to respond and brief colleagues regarding threats from the ideology of extremism and terrorism.  KST will not work with extremist organisations or businesses that oppose United Kingdom (UK) values of universal human rights, equality before the law, democracy and full participation in UK society.

ENHANCING STAFF TRAINING AND COMMUNICATION

With high numbers of employees, it is important to raise awareness and make sure that everyone (including business partners and subcontractors) are vigilant. KST colleagues will be regularly briefed via our online training system and internal communications channels to look out for unusual packages or other items, and to challenge people showing interest in less accessible areas. KST colleagues will be afforded the confidence to report suspicious items or behaviour through technology and management support.

CONTROLLING BUILDING ACCESS AND EGRESS

Access and egress points across KST’s head office, and its regional offices, are constantly monitored with the correct procedures in place to ensure that no unauthorised person is able to access a building in order to carry out an attack without being recorded and/or challenged.

STRINGENT EMPLOYEE, SERVICE PARTNER AND SUBCONTRACTOR VETTING

Our stringent vetting of employees, service partners and subcontractors limits the risk of a person or persons exploiting their access to our premises for unauthorised purposes.   Our management systems encourage the constant review of all persons and organisations who work for, or with, KST.

Should your business require support in this area and the proposed new legislation, KST is well placed to review your risk and continuity planning approach using DYMENSiON; our SaaS risk and trend analysis tool.  DYMENSiON could support your new processes and real time risk approach, allowing you to take the necessary measures to cope with any potential threat.
